Your Northern Colorado Realtor, John Stegner, calls and tells you that there is an out of town buyer who must see your home AND IT HAS TO BE SHOWN NOW! The potential buyers have a flight out of the Fort Collins/Loveland Airport in a few hours and your home is a "perfect" match for them.
Be not afraid - here are some cleaning tips to get your house in ship shape in a short time for the real estate showing.
Begin in the living room. Stack books and magazines in piles, close the curtain panels to disguise dirty windows and drape a blanket across to sofa to hide dirty upholstery. To remove pet hair from furniture, wet the fingertips of a pair of rubber gloves and glide them across the soda. The hair will cling to the wet rubber.
Next, the kitchen is really important for the real estate showing. If there's no time to do the dirty dishes in the sink and the dishwasher is full, place dirty dishes in a stockpot, stow it under the sink and clean them later. Fold hand towels to hide stains, and to disguise any lingering odors, boil nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon or orange peels in a sauce pan.
Finally, move on to the bathroom. Roll over the bath mat with a lint roller to collect hair and dust. Hang fresh towels and store any stray cosmetics, brushes and toiletries in drawers or in containers.
OH BOY - THIS IS NOT FUN!
